Most of the damaged ones are bypassed. But along with my wearable, undamaged pieces, I have collected some hauntingly beautiful ruins. Originally bought with the intention of repurposing the beadwork, this one I have kept as found, and may take to a restorer one day.
That's a great candidate for restoration as its beaded onto net. The entire dress can be appliqued onto a new net dress. It will take a lot of time but you would end up with a fantastic dress. The ones beaded onto silk chiffon are hopeless - nothing you can do but save the beads - this one can be saved and its a beauty.
Thanks! I'm glad you all love it too ☺ It is beaded on very fine silk tulle. It looks more intact than in reality. The top has almost completely perished. I managed to untagle the pile of fabric and fashion a close approximation of where everything went. Luckily, I recently found a true magician of a restorer, but I think this one will cost a small fortune to do. I have a couple of major projects like this but for now I'm concentrating on the smaller jobs. If only I had bottomless pockets!
