    From 1911, a good description of what it is:
    Givrine—a new corded effect, like a very soft Faille

    So it's a faille-like weave I guess, usually made in silk but also wool, or a wool-silk blend. I did also see references to 'printed givrine'

    I wish...I wish to go back in time and shop for my fabrics.

  8. Me too! I love the old fabrics. Silk faille for me please, and a few bolts of that floral rayon crepe too while you're at it.
