A fur-collared cashmere sweater/cardigan . . .

Bad circulation - I feel the cold (its pathetic).

They look sooo warm and stylish...

I've been trawling the summer listings for possibilities and all possible auctions have been US so far (and many of those, for some reason particularly with these sweaters, 'will not ship out of US'). Others, I've been sniped / ground into the dust with the size of others' bids. :(

Desirable features: 34-38" bust, no larger than 30" waist (can't let those cold breezes in); either contrast (black with white or cream collar) colours, or champagney shades. Nice globular buttons and rhinestones a plus.

    My search continues...

Just wanted to add that I love those sweaters too.
I have one in beige that I wear a lot in the winter. I bought it about 3 years ago from Ebay, but it was in the winter.
Sometimes if you send a polite email to sellers that say *US only* they will make an exception. Of course if the seler says in the actual auction text or TOS no outside US sales I wouldn't bother, but some sellers will sell internationally provided they can check out your feedback first! :D

  4. I am kicking myself that I sold mine when I first started on eBay. I am in the "Always Cold" club too. I joke with my girlfriends that I can't wait to start menopause so I'll be warm all the time!! ;)

I have one, but not sure which cedar chest it is in. I'm also not sure if it is
cashmere. I should be unearthing it in the next week or so and will
    alert you to it.

    Oh yeah Bonnie! REAL Funny!

Also - don't be too intimidated by "US only" auctions. I quite often mark mine US only . . .
    1) because I forget to change that particular item when I have something that might go well, internationally . .
and 2) sometimes I just feel lazy. :)

BUT - I've never had a nice note from an international bidder with decent feedback, asking me if I'd consider an international bid, that I said "no" to.
I figure if they're polite enough to ask, they'll be a pleasure to work with.
    And they always are.
    :)

Yes, I'm not really scared off by 'US only', since I've written to people before and always got friendly replies to the request to consider an international sale. I've got some nice replies from sweater-sellers this time on various subjects re: postage and measurements, but strangely, not many responses on the subject of making an international transaction exception. Really odd...

I thought I was being ever so smart by looking now, but I suppose the market is actually a little more sparse at the moment. And the nice examples that are appearing are still being bid-up at the last minute by snipers (not in my interest to publicise that, but I might as well be honest!) Possibly brick and mortar people who are stocking up on something they think there'll be a run on this autumn.

Sue, thanks ever so much in advance for keeping me posted on yours, and everyone else for keeping an eye open. I think I may have to resign myself to aiming for an 'orlon' version or similar, since I don't see the cashmere ones getting cheaper. Perhaps if I sell some more stock soon (instead of keeping everything!!) I can get more ambitious.

I'm so pitiful with the cold - my BF jokes that my body temperature (in my hands especially) is mysteriously several degrees lower than the ambient air temperature!

I do but it is black with a brown collar - but the good news is I have a black one with a white collar :) and I ship to the UK cos that's where I am ha ha

I'll try and find it tomorrow cos I am going to my storage place. It is a good one - fur collar is integral to the sweater and it is lace lined - I can't recall the maker but I think it is a B Altmam which is one of the best makers of those sweaters

It is your size and has the rhinestones - couldn;t be any more perfect

Wow, Anne, that would be fabulous, if you could take a look! (and thanks Hollis - I hadn't checked in here recently, but my beady eyes had already spotted that beautiful cardigan - I'm one of the watchers, it looks lush). To be honest, I'd love to have this kind of sweater in different shades, but that's probably being a bit extravagant!

I bid on a black cardi with a damaged champagne fur collar last night with a snipe, but obviously I underestimated the finish price (even though I thought I'd allowed a good $20 - sigh).

I have to admit one of my programmed in favourite searches is 'altman fur collar', so I already like to prioritize those stocked in his store!

Lin (getting excited about being stylishly warm, especially now that it's getting a bit nippy out, already)

    Oh noir

any good to ya - waist 26" bust 36"

it's cashmere, lined - rhinestones at waist are perfect but don't fasten cos a bit of the clip sheared off but it fastens with a hook and eye just above. On both sleeves the rhinestone in the grip thing are missing - so they either need to have rhinestones put in or can be removed or left as is.

Not Altman or Dalton but obviously a good make and the collar is white mink. It's deep black as seen in the darker pics

    Nice globular buttons :)

I have just spotted 3 missing rhinestones but it's hard to aee cos they are on the side - replacing is easy I believe

It is so freakin' hot here at work, I have to wear summer stuff in the winter, and it is so freakin' cold here in the winter -- I don't know what to wear! I can't wear a sweater, or even a blazer. It is hot even to wear a long sleeve blouse here. We've been complaining about the A/C all summer. I even had to adjust my thermostat at home.

Oh to be cool, or at least not sweltering. I would so love to be able to wear a sweater!

Ah the joys of temperate (ie. pathetically variable and indecisive) British weather - makes this kind of thing indispensable!
That looks absolutely perfect Anne, even the measurements - I could attempt rhinestone craftwork or merely flaunt a flawed luxe Miss Haversham-esque air. I believe I've made the acquaintance of Mr Bruder in my Ebay browsings before... can't remember where.

Now all that remains for me to do is draw up the contract promising you the income of my country estates (ha) in perpetuity, right?

Have a rotten cold today - this has really cheered me up :)
