Any Marimekko lovers out there??

Discussion in 'PUBLIC Vintage Fashion - Ask Questions Get Answers' started by Beehive Vintage Goods, Mar 19, 2004.

  1. This Marimekko long shirt dress is dated 1972 (don't you just love it when companies date their designs!!). At first it didn't do a lot for me...but it is starting to grow on me. I am imaging the endless wardrobe possibilites ie: a regular dress or worn layered as a coat, etc. What say you????????

I always think of those cute big blobular flowers when I think of Marimekko. This almost makes me think of a long David Crystal/Lacoste dress. Sure is cute, though!

9 times out of 10, when I sell Marimekko on ebay, it ends up going to Europe. It is just not appreciated all that much this side of the Atlantic which is kind of odd, as I remember it was hugely successful here in the 70s...

I love Marimekko sculptural pieces... I just sent this jacket out to New York but agree with Jonathan that most of my Marimekko goes to the UK, also Australia....
I do find the fabric sells in the US but the clothing to the UK

  5. I'll now be very interested to see where my piece ends up!! Thanks for posting your jacket Michelle. That is really quite wonderful and definitely not something I would think Marimekko would design.
