    Brand New

Love your site! Is it ok if I recommend it as a sister forum to our Vintage Jewelry Forum?

New to vintage clothing, just started getting the bug! I'll read all the New user rules before bombarding you with questions!

If you have any jewelry questions, feel free to send them to me! If I can't answer the question, I know a great bunch of folks that probably can!

    Hello All,

My name is Karen and I just found your wonderful site...

I am helping a friend sell a collection of clothing that she inherited. There are some wonderful vintage items, but I'm not an expert, so it's wonderful to have found a group with such extensive knowledge.

I'll be posting questions soon!!! But, first, am I allowed to ask for help in pricing an item? Don't want to break the rules my first time out!!!

    Thanks

Hi Karen - and welcome. We would be glad to comment on your friend's collection of clothing. You can ask for help in pricing too, but that's a slippery slope and most of us hesitate to make suggestions. Your best bet is to determine the era, condition, etc and then google around to see what other sellers are asking for similar pieces.

The best thing to do is to post photos. (A picture is worth a thousand words and all that...) and if there are labels, of course that is important.

Thanks Amanda, I'll get busy and post some pics over in the ? forum...

    HI Everyone!
My name is Matthew and this is my first post, well technically second. Haha! (See Above) Really Glad to have found this site and look forward to everyone's knowledge on here and hopefully I can share a little as well. A little about me: I've been selling vintage clothing as a hobby on and off for about five years now. Currently, I am about to launch a website (that will remain nameless at the moment since I am in the "friend" status) which I am really excited about. I can't wait to meet some of you on here! Since I am a guy I will be really needing help with ladies vintage clothing. So, soon I will be posting pics and asking questions to help myself learn and accurately describe some items.
    Cheers!

    Hi vintage foxes,

I've been here before, but that was quite some time ago and I don't remember introducing myself so here goes...
My name is Chanel and I live in the Netherlands. I have two beautiful boys and I run an online vintage shop by the name of Vinties.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm newly registered here, but I've been reading your forums and using the label resource for awhile now. I've learned so much from all of you, and I'd like to say thank you. So, Thank You! ;)

Here's a little about me: I'm a writer (not published yet), a longtime sewist and I love to design and make clothing that I often sell. Many of the items I make have a retro-look. I also love searching for a bargain and kind of got into vintage by accident. Now, I am obsessed! I've expanded from focusing on the hippie looks I grew up with, to older pieces.

I look forward to 'meeting' all of you and sorting through the vast knowledge base you have here.

    New to the board

Good day everyone. I'm new to the boards and wanted to introduce myself. I've been selling on eBay for years. Only recently (about 1 year ago) have I been introduced to the search of vintage clothing. It all started with a friend that is a musician. He was always looking for vintage '70s & '80s t-shirts and western shirts. I found that I really enjoyed 'the hunt' and continued searching after he moved away. For the most part I have stuck with t-shirts, western shirts and some shoes. Mostly identifying 70's and 80's styles. More recently I've been finding sweaters. The more I've learned on my journey the more exciting the hunt becomes! I look forward to being able to offer more in the future, but I'm very happy to have found this board!

Been reading through the boards for a bit, decided to become a member, and now posting to say hello. My name is Courtney, have been adoring and collecting vintage since I was 15 (am now 21). It is a hobby I share with my mother, and grandmother. I'm currently a Medical Illustration student minoring in History (all history fascinates me, especially fashion) in upstate New York, but my heart is in Pittsburgh. This summer, I hope to start selling some vintage pieces of mine, as I am running out of room in my apartment!

It's very good to see this community and I hope to get to know many of you. I have already gotten much helpful advice on dating and measurements, hopefully I can offer some expertise of my own soon.

Hi! I am new to this site and I am amazed at the resources...even overwhelmed. I have in my attic clothes worn by my grandmother (born 1986) and my mother (born 1923). I used to be able to enjoy wearing them myself and love the details and style of clothes from the 30's, 40's, and early 50's. Now I feel the clothes need to go somewhere, to a theatre, college/university or to a museum...donated. So I will explore this site and keep my eyes open.
    THANKS! Andrea

Welcome Andrea. We all want to visit your attic! There's a good search function here, if some of the garments have labels you might get more information that way. Meanwhile - we welcome questions ... and even more ... photos!

Hello! I'm a 'curious' Vintage Clothing buyer meaning I see lots of things that catch my eye, but I rarely buy because I'm not really sure of the value other than my own eye for its beauty.

I'd like to learn more about fashion accessories in particular. I tend to like things that could make a fabulous display but not necessarily be worn everyday.

There are so many reproductions I would like to spend some time here with your group and attempt to figure it all out. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to getting to know each of you! <3

I stumbled upon this sight when I was looking for a good source for identifying labels. I'm so glad I did! In on thrifting trip, I found a vintage bathing suit (perfection fit by Roxanne), an incredibly adorable boho skirt by Alex Colman, and a cute short sleeved bathrobe by Evelyn Pearson. I was able to identify all of these garments by utilizing the forums and label resource on this site. The only question is why I didn't join sooner! Now, if I could only find a mannequin within my price range.........
