On my website! http://pasttrends.fuzzylizzie.com/nostalgia.html Actually, I'm still working on it, so please feel free to point out any errors. Lizzie
Lookin' good! You know, I had one of those nostolgic scenic scenic tops like you show in your first pic. My best friend teased me constantly when I wore it (don't think she wanted to be seen with me - lol). I loved it, but ended up not wearing it much so I wouldn't have to deal with her ribbing. Looking back, she wasn't the greatest friend I guess. carol
Lizzie, I love it! It really puts things in to perspective of how folks who are introduced to retro or vintage initially with 70s clothing can become hooked on a particular influence from another time and eventually become interested in the originating decade like the 20s or 40s, etc. I certainly did by way of getting late 60s and 70s hand me downs in the late 70s and 80s. Great article Lizzie, and very appropriate to what came up in the workshop too! It's interesting to see how the retro look was done outside the UK, and I'm interested to see the YSL collection you mentioned? He was WELL reknowned for pinching Ossie Clark's designs, apparently one of his minions actually went and bought an Ossie jacket which ended up as a celebrated part of his next Paris collection!! Liz
Here's one small picture from that 71 YSL collection - kind of gangster looking! <img src=http://members.sparedollar.com/fuzzylizzie/ysl41.jpg>
Excellent, Lizzie! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I had to giggle tho. In the 70's, my girlfriend & I really didn't read any magazines except Rolling Stone. But we haunted the thrift stores in search of 40's dresses & Racoon coats. LOL For a couple of West Virginia glas, we were definitely fashionistas! Wish we had pictures... That was our "No Pictures, Please" era. I think we were either paranoid or else we thought we were just as fabulous as all the rock stars we were meeting all the time. Come to think of it, we WERE just as fabulous. Maybe moreso.... ;) leisa
Lizzie, I missed this when I had the flu - just getting caught up now and thoroughly enjoyed it. Leisa, bet you wished you had some of those thrift store finds from the 70s still! (I know I do) Sue
