Okay, here's the last query for a while, I've been asking for alot of help! Anyway, this slip has no label. The straps don't adjust. Would this be 40s or later than that. thanks again for all everyones help. lauren
Have you looked in the Lingerie guide from the homepage Lauren? and I think this has possibly been re-created from a bias gown, the applique decoration looks home done and I can't remember seeing bias seams under the arms like that before. the fabric there is also slightly different, but perhaps the same as the applique pieces?
I think what you have is a 1930s' chemise, possibly altered at one point, but originally styled as a chemise slip. At least it looks like that to me. It is on too tight for your dress form--can you adjust your form smaller? (Same with your lovely bias-cut nightgown--the hip area isn't meant to be "filled out" as much as your form fills it.) These chemises were not meant to fit like a form-fitting slip of later eras. They would have been slightly loose on the body, and I believe were worn as slips or nightgowns.
