Hello to everyone!! First of all, I want to say that I'm not sure what in the heck I'm doing!!! I have ALWAYS loved vintage clothing, but never really thought much of it. Sure, I have some awesome dresses that I have picked up to go out in with my husband, (is it just me, or do you find that anytime you wear a vintage little black dress, traffic stops and everyone wants to know where you got "the dress"??). Well, I've been wanting to find a way to earn a little bit of money, but not hate doing it AND be able to do it in between my hectic schedule with my kids. My Mom saw a great person named "SUSAN" on the news the other morning and called me in a hurry to tell me to watch. It seems that Susan sells her vintage wares on eBay. WOW!!! Mom said, 'right up your alley'!!! Well, I researched a little and found Susans email address and wrote her. Okay, a shout out to Susan right now!! She was so awesomely sweet and gave me some wonderful advice. The best piece was joining this forum:). So, here's my goal: 1. To research vintage clothing from 40s to 70s. 2. Sell it, okay, well sell what I don't keep, lol:).

Well, please forgive me if I bombard with questions, but I was known in H.S. for asking too many questions, oh yeah, and I got the "most school spirit award too".

    Can't wait to meet ya!!

(please read this with a heavy southern drawl as I'm as southern as you can get:).

    Hi Tamara...and Welcome!

Susan is wonderful....and she is a member here as you obviously seem to know and I'm sure she will be 'by' at some point today or this evening.

As for research, this place is a great start....and there are super
knowledgable people here to answer your questions.....so ask away!

You sound like the majority of us - we buy, keep some and sell some, but
we all share a love for vintage clothing ....and the learning is an on-going process.

Oh...we have several 'southern belles' here, so in that aspect you are
    right at home!

    Sue:)

I'm glad you're here. Everyone here is wonderful - SO friendly and extremely knowledgable. I honestly would not have had half the success I've had if it were not for the help of the people on this board.

I can't wait to see what you find!

    Hi Tamara -

Always nice to see new faces, aboard!
You sound like all of us, when we started.
I spent many weeks just reading everything on eBay, to "learn the ropes" in the beginning, but found the vintage group the most helpful, of all.
Not to mention, some of the nicest people, around.
    :)
Nice to have you join us!

    Hi Tamara.

    WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, give yourself credit for what you know. It may be a little overwhelming at first with so many eras/designs/style movements, but if you start with what you love, it will multiply. Start with what you really love and the the enthusiasm will rub off on people. when you are excited about something - whether it be loud 70s print maxi dresses or victorian boots, you can't help but be knowledgeable about it .Take the types of items that you always find yourself gravitating towards your whole life...little black dresses from maybe the 60s, lets say...ask questions and research the "gaps" you need to fill in and you may find you know more than you thought.

eventually you can go into what you have no clue about, but if you stick to what you know or would LIKE to know at the very first, your confidence in your knowledge will be there, and then you can either specialize or branch out from there.

No one can possible know everything about everything, but somehow with all the brains here who have a favorite style or era or another, we can pretty much chisle together what other info that another doesn't have...or at least be able to know how to get it.
