From the Wall Street Journal’s Guide to 2016 Fashion Trends: “Designers fixated on the waist for fall, with corseted looks and all breeds of belt in the offing.” For the vintage versions of this current trend, look no further than wide belts from the 1950s and 1980s that whittle your waistline, as well as vintage shapewear like long-line bras, waist-cinchers and girdles—to wear under or over your outfit!
