Mystery Fur

Hello, lovely VFG folks,

I have a sort of strange circa 1960s fur here. It almost looks like some sort of deer. I was hoping that someone here could lead me in the right direction.

Hi there, It's horse hair, I think it dates to the 50s, and I think it may have been relined.

 

Oh wow! I didn't even think of that as a possibility! Is it actual horse hair or is that just a name for something else, like "pony hair" is?

 

It's is actual horse hair.

 

Deer fur wouldn't have that sheen you can see in the full pictures. And deer feels dry and course to the touch in my opinion.
