Hi! I'm currently cloning this 1940 Mercury custom car that my relative Jim Kierstead owned. I'm doing it down to the tiniest detail, so I need to get hold of this blanket seen in the photo. Can anyone please help me?
It looks like a 1930's vintage cotton camp blanket. The best were made by Beacon but there were other makers. The had a kind of double weave in geometric and/or Native American patterns. I think they were also made in later decades. Marian
I'm getting a 30s Woolrich blanket vibe. It will be a very hard thing to locate. You may need psychic powers! Are you East Coast, West Coast, or other?
Thanks, that should narrow it down regionally, perhaps, but it will be a long shot to locate that specific textile item. Maybe it could be found in an old ad, from The May Company, Sears, Montgomery Ward, JC Penney, or other stores that were around the area back then. Perhaps you could find someone to custom screen print that design for you? I really like the way it looks, and I admire your attention to detail in the project!
It is a cotton boy's blanket made after roy rogers or the other cowboy movies came out . LOOK FOR 1940'S-1950'S BOYS COWBOY AND Indian blankets , esp in Western States . Or a late Navajo , Pendleton , etc.
