New Wave: Girls (and Boys) Just Want to Have Fun

New Wave was the pop music of the 1980s, and the pop style. Colorful and fun, it had a high quotient of vintage inspiration. Big were 1950s-inspired looks, crinolines, bustiers, bubble skirts, winkle pickers, creepers, skinny ties, sweater dresses, slouch socks, lace, black motorcycle jackets, oversized blouses, new romantic styles, bangle bracelets, fingerless gloves, stripes, and boldly patterned prints.

Catch the 80s wave when we revisit New Wave fashion!

    I know, isn't it Barbara?

Here's a dress I would have loved to wear when it was new in the 1980s. I wore that very hair bow barrette in the 1980s—still have it!

(...as a 'new person' am still bemused by the notion of the 80s being 'vintage' ...)

Hi Nimnim, I think it took lots of us awhile to get that 80s is vintage! Many people define vintage as more than 20 years old, so that means the early 90s are vintage now.
