Pretty Dress but What is this Lace?

I don't usually have much of anything like this, but this dress was so pretty, I was smitten with it.

A separate satin underdress, with an elaborate over dress of.... do I call that lace? It's almost like the design is stitched over the netted tulle. The over dress fastens with snaps, and the belt is separate. Factory made but no tags.

Any idea as to date, and what exactly should I call it.
    Many thanks!
    Lynn

I can see why you were smitten its very pretty. So feminine (sp) I can't find that in any of my books looks like an embroidered tulle to me.

I love the way she is displaying it. Almost like she is ready to curtsey.

  3. It is beautiful! Speaking of curtsying, she looks like Princess Di!

I'm lace-challenged, so will hope someone like Sue, or Hollis, or Brenda, etceteras will be along shortly. It looks 70s to me, though.

She does look like she is ready to curtsy Pauline. :)

Stephanie, you have lots of company, everyone thinks she looks like Diana.
The strange thing is, she is a rootstein and these mannequins are eveidently loosely based on real people.
I received a mail from someone one time, who told me my mannequin always freaked her out because it looked "EXACTLY" like her (her caps). The odd thing.... she told me she "was" a model (retired now). Anyway.... since I never got around to naming her, I now call her Patricia. :)

Lynn, I would go with embroidered net lace (or tulle, although tulle can be a bit stiffer and not have the same drape as net).

    Very pretty!
