From super heroes to super villains, pre-1970s vintage comic books were printed in a hand-separated, 4-color process. The bright and eye-catching colors were intended to leap out potential buyers from the newsstand—and the limited color palette kept costs down. Utilizing only different saturations and combinations of these colored dots (CMYK: cyan-blue, magenta-red and yellow, combined with black on white backgrounds) allowed comic artists to create the fantastic array of characters and their costumes! This week our members show us their SUPER styles in the 3 vibrant shades of classic comics--plus black, white and polka dots too!
