Was your mom a Beatnik? Lindy hopper? A classic beauty? Was her fashion sense sophisticated chic? This week the Vintage Fashion Guild celebrates your mothers and grandmothers in style!

Share items from your shop inspired by your mother's and grandmothers' personal style. Members can post mom pics, things that remind you of your mom's style or maybe just a memory of a favorite article of clothing, piece of jewelry, etc.

We want to see all of your photos of your mothers and grandmothers, vintage or not!

My maternal grandmother (right) had a great deal of style. . . pictured here with my fraternal grandmother and me!

This is the woman that I thought of as my Mother for the first nine years of my life. She was my Grandmother and her name was Annie(Hester Anne Hunt Watkins). She made all of her clothes and I remember that this dress was a very dark burgundy and I wish that I still had it, but sadly, I don't.

    These are all so wonderful!!

A couple years ago I had a simple dress from the 1940s that reminded me of one my mother wore in a photo, so I put together our pics:

    904253_10152337144506355_2672391917559003525_o.jpg

I chose some items I know my mother would wear from my shop.

She was a hard working woman and liked practical gabardine and cotton—almost always in blue to match her eyes.

Navy wool gabardine skirt; plaid cotton dress

She knitted, tatted, crocheted and sewed practically everything she wore, I wore, etc.
    knits2.png
Italian hand-knit sweater; English hand-knit sweater

She wore plaid and tartan A LOT.

Tartan pleated skirt; taffeta plaid skirt

When I think of my mothers' wardrobe I think of serious coats and slightly glamorous shoes.

My mom has the family photo albums - so I don't have the photos I would want to show here. But I've got things in my shop, that she would have worn at the time - or would still wear. She learned sewing in school, and she started making her own things from Burda patterns early, and she still sews, though mostly from vintage patterns these days. She also made me things when I was younger, and she's also knitting, embroidering, crocheting... Here's a few things that remind me of her old photos from the 60s:

She had a party dress much like the one on the right in her late teens...Simplicity 3592 60s party or cocktail dress

I can just see mom wearing that in her "off" time during one of her winter jobs, hanging out and fooling around with her friends... Simplicity 6696

Stylish dresses that required a little extra work... like smocking here Simplicity 6778 60s dress pattern

Stylish short coats... Ringier 4198 60s coat pattern

I don't have any pics of my mom online--but these are some of her actual 70s clothing.
She made them and did all the hand embroidery~
