What would you call the cuts in the dress

    I am pretty sure its late 40's early 50's Small shoulder pads Lace bottom, sleeves, and across the top. But the area next to the lace is cut leaves that the lace is stitched to. I did a couple black and white photos.

    And I stuffed it with a slip that has just a bit of pouf Does it look okay?

    I thought crewel work was a type of embroidery? Please enlighten me if it isn't! Nice dress and you did a good job of showing the details in the close-ups!

    That looks like cutwork over lace - and it does show up very nicely.
