Dress Date and Fabric Help Please!!!! Any Thoughts???
I'm in love with this dress but I don't think I'll ever be small enough to wear it. I read that Howard Wolf designed for Neiman Marcus.
I'm leaning towards 70's and sateen. The fabric is really heavy.

Anyone else think late 70's?? What about the fabric?? There is only the designer tag. Nothing else.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Howard Wolf is nice stuff--not real high end, but a nice line, I'd say. And I think this is maybe more late 60s. I like that midriff cummerbund and
big bow!
Can't tell on the fabric from here. Based on its general era, it could be a nice poly satin; at least the top has that sort of sheen to it. I'd have
to feel it to make a better guess!

the polka dot fabric has the ridges/lines typically indicative of faille ~

I was thinking 60s too Annne.. late 60s very early 70s but I wasn't sure and I didn't want to mislead. But the waist and the general design made me
think that. the skirt especially with the black off to one side :-)

I'm going with early '70s and I encourage you to do a burn test because I think the fabric might be a heavy silk twill. In any case, it's
beautiful, a bold and striking dress in great condition.

I was torn between late 60s and early 70s. I bought it with a lot of other mid-70's dresses so I went with the latter.
Nicole - Thanks for the suggestion to do a burn test. It is real heavy and could very well be silk.

Nicole - Spot on! It was silk. I need to burn it in my brain to do a fiber burn test.....
