Help Dating/Description of vintage black hooded coat..opera ?
hello all,
i'm posting a few photos of this vintage black velvet hooded coat. The label is "Creighton, exclusively Kline's". the hood is lined in what
appears to be rabbit.
the coat has a one-button closure at the neckline.
would this be an opera coat ?...1950's ?
thanks as always !
Connie

I admit, this is a union label I haven't seen before, but the shape of the coat looks 40s to me.

Here's some information about the label from our website:
http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/component/option,com_alphacontent/section,6/cat,59/task,view/id,379/Itemid,100/
The coat looks like it's from the early '40's but I'd like to see a close-up of the details and a little bit more about the shoulder pads - if
there are any. (Looks like there are.)
Did you do a search form Creighton?

Hi,
The fur looks to be ermine, but it is hard to be sure from the photo. More than any other fur, ermine was used for collars, cuffs, and hoods on
velvet opera coats, so it is a strong possibility. I will wait to see what others think about the vintage year, but it does have a very 40's
flair.
