Wonderful ad and sweaters - I love the one with the cherries!

Oh my, those are wonderful--the pink strawberries one has an identical silhouette to the one in the ad!

I had a lovely Catalina jacquard, but it was a couple of decades later...

Truly wonderful, I don't think I've ever seen such lovely sweaters from this era. I love the man's sweater in that ad with the deer!

I have never seen one of these earlier sweaters, but they look fabulous.

My parents always had gobs of mothballs in cheese cloth dangling from hangers and also in their drawers. This is from a 1943 advertisement for Catalina.

If you read Lizzie's wonderful blog, I assume you saw this piece about Jantzen?

To answer your question about the repairs, yes, it can be done. They match the yarn and reconstruct the structure of the knit. It's called Swiss Darning.

    You collection is simply incredible!

A lot of dry cleaners will have someone who can do it. Call around and ask to see examples of their work. I'm not familiar with the Chicago company. If you are handy with a needle, maybe you ought to try it yourself, or find someone who can teach you. There are all kinds of tutorials on the internet.

Fabulous pictures, yum yum! (I'm talking about the sweaters of course)

  15. I am just about in love with that cherries sweater. Too bad wool makes me break out in hives or I'd be offering you big money, LOL...

Linda, that is some amazing collection you have. The Love Bird is my favourite I think. Or maybe one of those gents' ones...so long as they come with the gent!

Great collection, Linda. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I had never heard of these Welgrume Day Glo sweaters before!
That photo of the girls in their dragon mascot sweaters is wonderful!
