Another dress dating help request

    Can anyone help with this one? I'm leaning towards pre-1940s but as there is a side zipper then no earlier than the mid thirties? Can anyone help me determine if I'm in the right time frame?

    Yes, 1940's. Are there or have there been shoulder pads?

    Hi Tamzzyn,

    On our website's front page, we have a drop down resources tab that includes a section called Tips and Tricks. In it, you'll find all kinds of handy dating suggestions, including in the zipper section:

    Side seam zippers – late 1930s-1960s.


    In the 1930s zippers were commonly used in the side seams of dresses, but not the only time period. :)

    No shoulder pads and doesn't look as though there has ever been any.
