    Get the Look: Amelia Earhart

Happy birthday to Aviatrix Amelia Earhart!

Amelia Marie Earhart was born on July 24th, 1897 and disappeared in 1937 while attempting to circumnavigate the globe, leaving behind a major legacy in aviation and women’s rights. Amelia’s quiet grace has made her a sartorial symbol of classic elegance and smart dressing for stylish comfort.

Setting plenty of records in the 20th century, Earhart was the 16th woman in the world to be issued a pilot’s license, the president of The Ninety-Nines, a society of female aviators, the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and she even had her own short-lived celebrity fashion line of women’s sportswear.

This week’s parade is Amelia approved! Think leather flight jackets and pretty printed scarves, leather boots, aviator gear, leather coats, and 20s and 30s day and evening wear. Take flight in coveralls and flight suits for the ground or the sky, menswear-inspired trousers, oxford shirts, pullover knitwear, smart loafers, leather gloves, equestrian riding gear and jodhpurs.
