Woodstock Turns 50 Billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music", more than 400,000 festival-goers descended on Max Yasgur's dairy farm on Friday, August 15, 1969 to enjoy what was arguably the greatest musical line-up of all time. Woodstock turned out to be so much more than just another music festival, however. It was a decade-defining event - one whose legacy in pop-culture has been undiminished by time. Undeterred by traffic jams, torrential rain and mud, food shortages and logistical chaos, the Woodstock experience, by most accounts, truly lived up to its hype as a blissed-out weekend of peace, music and brotherhood. The fashions worn by performers and festival-goers alike, celebrated freedom of expression and non-conformity. Long, flowing maxi dresses, gypsy skirts, peasant blouses, tunics, ponchos, vests, capes, floppy hats, fringed leather, denim, velvet, Indian block prints and tie-dye for as far as the eye could see, remain popular staples of modern-day festival-goers and free-spirited fashionistas. To celebrate Woodstock turning 50 this week, members of the Vintage Fashion Guild let their freak flags fly with a parade of their boho best.
