New here, and have officially found my happy place. I have always loved vintage, but never really explored it, just went oooh that is pretty and have bought a couple of things here and there. I am currently obsessed with children's vintage clothing - but finding it such a hard thing to research, please share any tips on where to learn alllll the things! I am in the process of starting my own very low key shop hoping I can learn more and more as I go!

Hi there, I’m Brenda and I am new here. I have always been in love with fashion since a small girl playing with paper dolls and cutting out newspaper fashion images. I began sewing at age 13 ( so nearly 50 years) and I have been sewing ever since. I design and sew most of my clothing. I do love to recreate dresses and lingerie from vintage patterns, sometimes using vintage fabrics from the same time period. I collect vintage sewing patterns and love most everything fashion related pre 1950’s. I have a small collection of vintage apparel, lingerie, gloves, and such. My vintage pattern collection is ever growing. I am also interested in vintage beauty related advertising, products etc. I love to share my knowledge of fashion, sewing, collecting and very much enjoy the hunt.

    Hello! Hello!
The name's Viktor and I absolutely love vintage & antique men's fashion to the horrific point I've reached, where that is pretty much all I wear every single day. I've utilized the VFG website for countless attempts at dating things I've dug up from the charity shops, but only today realized that there actually was a forum so, well, an enthusiastic hello from here! I'm based in Denmark, which makes labels and all those sorts of things a little tricky to ID, not to forget that there's such a dearth of men's fashion information to begin with, so I've been more or less just kind of working with what I have available and look forward to chatting with like-minded people.

My best find so far is a 1935 cut-away tail coat I found for £5 in a Sheffield charity shop, and it fits me as well! My favourite piece in my collection is a waistcoat from the 1850s, which, yes, also fits me perfectly and I have worn it on ocassion (please don't kill me, I handle it very gently I swear)

Greetings! As with Viktor above, I've known about this site for quite some time via info on dating labels. I'm a lover of all vintage, but find myself most drawn to primo Alex Colman and Alfred Shaheen prints as well as antique French linens. Looking forward to learning lots and hopefully contributing something new, too. :)

Hello there. I am Vanessa from Greece and wanted to share with you my passion for vintage. It s been a week since i opened my etsy shop, and almost 8 months now that i sell on ebay my vintage findings and i am so happy that finally for the first time i am doing something that expresses me at 100%. It is kinda strange but untill now, even though my body, my face, my hair and also my personality they were screaming vintage, my clothes were not. It is safe to wear jeans and shirts the most of the time, but who wants to live forever wearing the costume of boredom? My closet now is full of vintage clothes and my soul full of satisfaction. And that feeling, ooh God that feeling, when i see my precious garments that i choose and treat them like babies, to travel from the one side to the planet to the other is really inspirational for me. Anyway, i am too emotional most of the times, but this is another vintage part of me. :) I am really happy i found this great place for vintage lovers, i have so many questions about so many things, that i do not know from where to start. I study a lot of vintage history in order to be decent in my descriptions, to my future customers and myself, but days have so few hours and time runs like crazy. That's all folks for now, hope to know each other a little bit better and to exchange opinions. :)

My wife and I have been collecting vintage clothing (mostly 1840 to 1940) for almost 40 years. Photographing her collection to document it is how I got into the portrait photography business. Starting in the late 90s I put together a website to document her collection. I'm now in the process of redoing the website, and I came across this site while trying to update a hat. I will post info on that in the forum.

    Hi everyone!

My name is Jayme, and I am a historic and vintage costuming enthusiast and living historian from South Carolina, USA. My current time periods of interpretation are the American War for Independence (third quarter of the 18th century) and the late Edwardian era (primarily World War I). But the reason I’m here is for my newest venture: the 1940s! I’m brand-new to this decade, and I’m determined to jump in with both feet. Some good friends and I are embarking on a Stateside USO impression at World War II re-enactments, so I’m excited to learn more from you. I welcome any constructive advice as I build this new kit!

Hello, Everyone. Lovely to be here.

I'm Katherine, born in North Carolina but have been living in NYC for the past 14 or so years...hard to believe it's been that long!

I have been collecting vintage for over a decade now, and have recently opened up my own online shop. I've used the VFG label resource many times as a way of dating some of my pieces (both business and personal collection) and it's been wonderful.

I'm especially partial to the 60s and 70s, the more over-the-top, the better. In addition to clothing, I also collect vintage costume jewelry, but as of this writing, I don't sell it.

However, it seems many of my clients are after 40s pieces, military and workwear, and all things 20s style (we can thank Peaky Blinders for that.) I'm here mainly to expand my knowledge in that area, as well as to learn from my fellow dealers about events, vending at shows, etc. I love meeting and chatting with new people.

Looking forward to learning more about you all.
