At the René Hubert exhibition that I posted about, it was shown that he'd designed fabrics and dresses for Stoffel fabrics here in Switzerland in the 1950s. And of I wrote that blog about Fisba-Stoffels earlier this year. So when talking to the curator I mentioned that I'd have loved to have known that little fact about Stoffel earlier in the year - and then he mentioned that Stoffel sold a lot of fabric to the US (true - if you search newspapers.com, there's lots of ads to be found!) and that Pat Premo especially used a lot of Stoffel fabric. Well, I went back to the Swiss Textiles magazines online and searched for René Hubert - and found this fantastic article about Pat Premo, Stoffel fabrics and Hubert, which had escaped me when I'd been looking for info on Stoffel (problem being, this is a fairly common family name here, searching the whole library for Stoffel wasn't easy).

You can read the article from the English edition of Swiss Textiles from 1954 here:

There's a ton more "Los Angeles Letter" articles in Swiss Textiles from the 50s and 60s that show clothes by Premo and other American labels (Don Loper gets a lot of mentions too) using Swiss fabrics:
