    oops. I see the date is in the title - 1929. But would still love to know about how this fits in overall. It's such a bold look! Was this the first appearance of the diving girl?

    The company was started in 1910, and started making swimsuits several years later. The Diving Girl was introduced in 1920. There is some really interesting details on my blog.

    I didn't realize your original post linked to your blog--thanks for pointing it out, Lizzie. And you are right--lots of fascinating info... I especially love learning that the belt is really a feat of knitwear trompe l'oueil!

    Never saw the diving girl that large. The suit is fantastic and it looks like it's in great shape. What a great find!
