Just looking for any info on this dress I picked up and help on dating it accurately. I am thinking 1940s?

Because there seems to be a Franklin Street in Chicago, a search on that name is giving me thousands and thousands of hits, but I will keep digging for more information. In the meantime, I found a 1945 ad with this, so you are correct about the 1940s...although I found ads for them into the late 1950's, but those shoulders on your dress (among other things) point to the 1940s...

What a great dress. Are the shoulders as wide and padded as they look in your photo? Or is that the dress form making it appear that way? The length and hip wrap look very much like post WWII, late 40s styling. Not every woman (or designer) was quick to give up her shoulder pads.

  4. Agree with Barbara: late '40s.
