Anyone know this label? Perullo, David Hart

Hi All! Haven't been around much, but did finally manage to get married in December. Between that, the holidays, houseguests, etc. I'm just finally trying to get some work done!

Anyway, have this really pretty, well made dress and the label inside says "Perullo, David Hart Inc". Anyone know anything about this name? Am curious as the dress is gorgeous with tons of seaming and this lovely blue metallic embroidery.

Also, anyone have a creative way to describe this bodice treatment? All I can come up with is double layer, scalloped with silver metallic piping, which sounds pretty lame!

    Thanks
    Theresa

Thanks for the link. Very interesting and it certainly seems legit. I'm wondering if I should try to contact this family member to see if they have any more information.

    Theresa,
I'd try emailing them. It would be great information (and I could put it on the label resource!)

Well, I sent an email to one of the family members. Hopefully they'll respond with some helpful information. Will post it if they do.

Thanks for the congrats, Gail. Didn't think I was ever going to end up married. First we had to postpone the date because of a hurricane. Then we rescheduled for December and the day before the wedding, my husbands father died. He had been ill, but was up and about, so this was unexpected. I was all set to cancel again, but my mother in law wouldn't hear of it. She insisted we go on with the ceremony as that was what her husband would have wanted. So we made the best of it, but it sure could have been a happier day! My poor husband was a trooper that day. He really did his best to keep a smile on his face though I know he was having a tough time. His dad was his best friend.

Anyway, sorry to go so OT! Just praying we don't have anymore unpleasant surprises for a long time!

  8. Hi Theresa,

Congrats on your marriage! :clapping: But really saddened to hear about your father-in-law.

I had a dress by David Hart, it was a very well made dress, black velvet with a vivid blue taffeta liner, here's a picture and a shot of the label for the label resource if you find out any info on them.

    Thanks Tori!

That dress is really beautiful. Love the black and blue combination. Does seem that this company made very nice feminine clothing. Wish I could find more!

Theresa, I had no idea that your father in law died!!

What a great mother in law you have though for thinking about what he would have wanted and insisting that you guys have your special day after all of the adversity that you had the first time around.

Theresa, congrats on your marriage, and I, too, am sorry to hear about your husband's father. My dad died 3 1/2 weeks before my wedding, the morning I got home from mailing my invitations, so I kind of know what you all are going through. Though, of course, it wasn't the day before.... We thought about postponing the wedding, but everybody, including my mom, knew Dad would not have wanted us to do that. Your MIL must be an incredible woman. A bittersweet day if ever there was one, right?

SOrry for bumping up such an old thread but I have been trying to find out some more info about David Hart, but not with any luck. The link here doesn't work anymore. Did anyone find any info about this Seventh Ave. label?

it seems he only did dance and prom dresses - sort of like Fred Perlberg. I found a reference in 1948 and 1965 in the NYTimes, but no real info, just a refernce to a dress in a fashion show.

I'm reviving this thread to add some light to the mystery of Frank Perullo and to help future researchers. I work for the Grand Rapids Public Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan and we have a gorgeous dress with a Perullo, David Hart Inc. label. In May of 2020, Mr. Frank Perullo, age 95, found his design on our collection website and left a comment on the page. Museum staff reached out and were able to obtain an interview about his career, including the time he worked at David Hart Inc. The links to the dress and his interview are listed below. I hope this information helps anybody looking into Frank and his history :)

    How wonderful @klaymon
    Thank you for sharing.

It will be great to add to the label resource if we still have the label image
