Could this from the 40s?

Found this at a thrift store this morning to my surprise! It is crepe and has no label except a size (being 16).

Everything about it says 1940s to me .. but I'm unsure when sizing in clothing started although I have read that it began in the late 40s? With that being said, could this be from the late 40s? I've added a photo of me wearing it to get a better idea of fit. I'm also a small size so I know that this must be pretty old if a 16 is verging on tight for me!!

    Thanks!

That is beautiful. I see late 1930s, circa 1938-1939. Reminds me a great deal of Schiaparelli in the magenta color, the soutache trim, the crepe fabric, and the chunky exposed zipper right down the front. I think it is a jacket from an evening suit. It definitely looks Schiaparelli inspired.

I want to shop where you shop. Thrift stores here have nothing good at all.
