I bought this off of Jonathan over a year ago, and it has come time to part with it.... I need a date though. The fabric is like a fine wool crepe. Although it isn't easily seen, it has a horizontal seam about 6 inches from the hem, which creates a suggestion of a peplum. Fully lined, with smallish, hard (cotton batting?) shoulder pads between lining and outer shell. Although this is a 40s style, the label is not right, and Jonathan is pretty sure it is a later date. I have searched both Google and Vivisimo, and the current Schiap site doesn't sell garments like this (sells, t-shirts, scarves, perfume, etc). Schiap went bankrupt in 1954 and closed shop. Have found several conflicting dates on when the company under her name reopened - late 70s and early 80s, and then again in 90s....however there is apparently only a small office at the Paris address which is tied to the US larger operation. the label: I would like to list this tonight, but am totally baffled on this one. Jonathan feels it may be more like 90s, as apparently Schiaparelli started up again in the 90s (his original thought was 40s also). I have to go out but when I get back I'm going to go over this baby with a magnifying glass and see if I can find any other clues. Jonathan is one of the most knowledgable people I know and if he questioned this, obviously there is something weird about this. I just hope this mystery is solved before I list this tonight! Sue
