I hope these pics are clear, it’s such a dark dress. The dress is black velvet with a black gauzy draping of some fabric. Side metal zipper. Pinked seams. The bodice is lined in satin. The waist sits a little high. I think there used to be a label sewn into the back but it’s been removed. Thanks!

Oh yea, velvet is a pain to photograph. Even with my fancy camera and photoshop setup I have a tough time.

I'm seeing late 40s on this and it's SO pretty - love the swag in the front and back!

Just curious what does the dress look like underneath the swag and does it look like it was shortened? The reason I ask is I wonder if the velvet dress may have been a bit older and redesigned in the 40s with the crepe swag.

I got some more pics. In order, they are a pic of the inside back of the dress where I think there was once a label. You can see the crepe attached. The next two pics are the inside of the shoulders. There are hanger straps and snaps on each. Then a pic of the shoulder on the outside and then the hem where I think it was shorter at one point and someone let it down about an inch or so.

What length is it now, it looks mid-calf. I think it may have been a 40s evening gown that was shortened. It is a lovely dress!

It’s pretty long still, about tea length. I don’t think it looks right in that dress form. It really is very high waisted.
