Dating another petticoat

    I actually bought this with the other one I posted, but not exactly at the same time. In any case, they probably came from the same estate sale. This one is shaped differently and ties closed. It also has one pocket. I wasn't sure what direction it is supposed to be worn, which may alter the look a bit. It's all the same length all around. The pics don't do it justice. It's actually very white and rather heavy and stiff.

    This looks mid 19th century - the plain ones were typically stiffened with starch for maximum support. I would think 1860s-70s.
