    I can date most Chanels by the bolduc--the number on the tape under the label.
    This suit has Chanel labels on the skirt and blouse as well as the jacket but they are really faded and I can't read them.
    I think this is a Lagerfeld design and it is lovely. The client was a large woman. I think designs like this are particularly important for custom dressmakers since women executives can be large and also have the means to have garments custom made.

    Can you help me with the date?

    The style of the suit is so timeless, of course. If I were to take clues from the blouse I might say 1970s, mid to later era.

    I am not of much help but it is nice to see Chanel in a plus size,as you say.

    Thanks for your thoughts on the blouse. The skirt has no darts or shirring on the front and the side seams are more toward the back than usual.
