This dress was a Christmas present. I’m assuming it’s from the 30s but thought I’d ask to be sure. The lace has a honeycomb look to the netting. It closes along the side with snaps and there are also snaps at the wrists. It’s machine sewn with unfinished seams. The shoulders have a little lace insert to make the shoulders puffy. No shoulder pads. I believe those are wax flowers on the front? It’s a very tiny dress! Thank you for your help!

Lovely wedding dress - Isn't it amazing how tiny so many women must have been "back then"? I'd be comfortable saying 30's, but am only guessing. Hopefully more will chime in. Nice Christmas present!

Late 1930s, maybe 1938ish. and yes those do look like wax flowers. Really a very pretty dress.

Thank you! I think it’s the same size waist as on another 30s dress I have. I can’t imagine any adult so small enough to wear this. I’m tiny and yet too big to fit into it. Any chance it was worn with a corset?

I'd guess it was worn with a long line type foundation garment. And also possibly a young and tiny bride.

What a lovely lace gown. How nice to get it as a Christmas gift.

Yes, 1930s, I see it mid decade.

Probably not worn with a corset. I personally do not think that most ladies were, in general, any smaller than women today. It is just that the really tiny sized gowns (and other garments) tended to survive in greater numbers because down the line, no one else (in the family or otherwise) could fit into it and even remodeling for a costume or shorter dress was not a solution. Larger sized dresses were often altered, cut down or completly re-made during the Depression and WII eras.

I wonder if the darling wax blossoms were her mother's or grandmother's.
