Dating this hat

    Looking for a date for this hat. And a question - is that ribbon pinned to the side as decor or for some other reason. I'm assuming it's decor but thought I'd ask. Thank you!

    That is a nice hat. I would date it to the early to mid 1960s. It is a roller brim style, often called a Breton. Yes, the ribbon trim is strictly for decoration, and is a typical trim for this particular style of hat.
