Am I totally off base, or does this heavy wool melton w/fur trim (sheared something, I know not what) coat have a Russian Princess vibe?

Believe me when I tell you that it WOULD be entirely appropriate for braving a Russian winter - it weighs approximately a ton.

Would these be considered frogs, or is there a more specific name for this detail?

    Thanks for your help!

That's handsome! Certainly Very military or Russian influenced. I think those cords and buttons can be called frogs, or military braids.

  3. I would be in agreement with Hollis - frog like or military braid like.

That looks like a stunning coat in fabulous shape!

Shades of Anna Karina (yea, I'm probably not spelling that right) How about Princess Anastasia. I think I spelt that one right... maybe

  4. Great coat Carolyn!!!! I agree on the Russian/ Romantic Military look. Might the fur be mouton???

Thanks all - especially for bringing up the military influence, which hadn't crossed my mind - the coat certainly has it and it's a good keyword to boot :)

Bonnie - The fur is too soft to be mouton, I think. Sheared beaver, maybe? I'm going to have to be a bit vague on the fur ID - I honestly don't know what it is.

Maureen - Never mind about the spelling - I get your drift & it's right on ~

    :)
