First of all - it looks like the buttons have been moved to make it a little smaller. As for the material, could be silk from the look of it, but could also be synthetic. To know more about the fabric content I would recommend doing a burn test. As for dating... not 100% sure, but I don't think it's very old - maybe 90s. Does it have shoulder pads?
Hi Tamzzyn, hard to tell from the pics so can you tell us more about it? Eg, does it have any openings other than the CF buttons? Can you show a close up of the fabric? Does it have shoulder pads? Can you show a close up of the decorative feature please? I see late '30s-early '40s but I think it might be an '80s dress. Does it feel like silk? It looks like it might be thai silk but I can't tell without a nice clear close up. Thanks.
I did think it had a 40s look, but it looks like something more modern doing 40s style... especially due to the fabric. I agree, it does look like it could be thai silk. A look at the interior construction would also help determining age.
