    Hi all!

Stuck with the question yet again about whether a dress is 50s or early 60s! Any input would be wonderful. I couldn't find anything about the label. Also, could anyone offer tips as to how to iron the skirt of this dress without losing the pleats? Thanks!

  2. Maybe it's just me, but I'm seeing 1980s or 90s doing retro. This is the type of thing that I wore during that time period. Is it a metal zipper or plastic/nylon? Regardless, it's gorgeous!

Isn't it? It's so sweet. When I first saw it I thought it could be a later decade doing vintage, but there is a metal zipper and a ILGWU 1955-1963 label, so I was very excited about that!

It's darling. I think it's early '60's; '60'-'61. It reminds me of this dress that I purchased some years ago that I am pretty sure is '60's. Mine does not have any tags, and the zipper is metal. I love the detail in the lace trim on your dress!

  7. The label and sizing points to earlier than 80s. I'd say early 60s.

I will tackle your ironing question. From the images, it looks like it has loose unpressed pleats and gathers. This kindwaist treatment controls the fullness a little, so it doesn't froomp out below the waist. (Probably not a word, but you know what I mean.)6 You might turn it inside out then lightly iron the pleats for a few inches just below the waist, then continue ironing the skirt (on either side) as you would any gathered skirt.

Thank you so much :) Ironing intimidates me but I know I have to do it!
