Hi Jenny and welcome to the forums. Elbief were a British company based in the Midlands. They were incorporated in 1942, and went out of business in the 90s or 2000s. As far as I know they made metal goods, including handbag frames, and at some point they also made the handbags too. I've also seen frames marked LBF, which I've read are by the same company. (say it out loud and you'll see what I mean!) I think your bag is from the 1960s. The style is sometimes called a kelly bag, though this isn't strictly accurate.
