First usage of nylon sewing thread?

    I have a 1940s style sweater sewn up with either nylon or olefin thread and I'm wondering if it is 70s or 40s.

    Nylon (the fiber) was first commercially available in 1939. I don't know if you'd have found nylon thread then though. Do you have a photo of the sweater?
