This fashion designer was born in the latter part of the 1800s, had a store that closed at one point, but moved on, prospered, and dressed many celebrities.

It is really difficult to get these fashion icons by you all for too long. nsweezie wins! Congrats!

Madeleine Vionnet was born in June of 1876 and passed away in March of 1975 close to making it to 100 years old. She opened a store in 1912 but had to close it just two years later due to the coming of WWI.
She later opened her fashion house again in a different location closing it years later due to the onset of WWII.

Talk about bad but good luck at the same time; to go through two world wars and to make it through both.

She has been said to have been the originator of the bias cut and dressed stars, some of who were Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn, and Greta Garbo.
