It's Mother's Day for 45 countries (I looked it up) so I guess I can say Happy Mother's Day to many! Let's celebrate those who are mothers, and those who have been most nurturing in our lives, whether or not the connection is biological. This is my mother in the 1940s. The 100th anniversary of her birth was last September, and I wrote about her in my blog: https://www.denisebrain.com/vintage-denisebrain/2020/9/26/mamas-birthday She is definitely my hero.
I love that shot of you with your stepmother at your first meeting MS @thespectrum, would you mind posting it?
I lost my birth mother at a very early age and was so very lucky to have the world's best stepmother. My beautiful Mother and me, 1947. The day I met my stepmother, 1952.
Sweet photo Victoria—I love the cherries on your sweater. I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful mother.
Sweetest little moment in time captured in your dear photo, Victoria. I just love it! As well as all of these wonderful photos. Thanks to all for sharing.
I missed this thread until now. Such lovely photos. Mother's Day here is in March anyway. There's never bad day to honor mothers. Here's me and my mother, in 1969.
I woke up today thinking abut my mother. We lost her 12 years ago today. Here she is all dressed up vintage for a local musical theater production of "High Button Shoes". I forget the date, maybe mid to late 1960s. Can you guess that she made the hat herself? And her name is Millie! She definitely gave me my love of hats from an early age. She was my best friend as well as the best mom anyone could ask for.
Thanks, Maggie. And may I say you greatly resemble your beautiful mother. It is wonderful to see all the moms! Hope to see a few more.
