help dating crochet / knit top

    any help dating this top would be appreciated - not sure if this is crochet or knit.

    seems handmade - has a string running through the top & bottom that can be cinched tighter.

    Crochet. Handmade. Hard to tell when exactly from these photos because this pattern is classic. I would guess 1970s at the oldest. If you ever get a close up of the yarn and buttons, finishing too, I can pin that best guess down.
