help dating lace button up

    any help dating this piece would be appreciated. looks like lace, but fabric is very rigid? seems almost like nylon or some sort of material, like fishing net / veil . not cotton. thank you!

    Very pretty. Looks like a 1950s jacket made to go over a matching evening dress or sleeveless cocktail dress. Probably made of a nylon or is some other synthetic lace.

    If it is washable (will probably depend on whether the buttons are metal or plastic) this type of lace can soften up a lot from a wash after a long time of storage.

    Heed Melanie's advice. If the buttons have metal in them, remove them before washing the garments. Learned the sad way with rust spots when they were not taken off. Good luck.

    It was likely the over piece for a 50s wedding dress. The dress itself may have had spaghetti straps or been strapless as mentioned above.

    I agree be careful of those buttons, I too have made the mistake and washed and had them rust out.
