I found this beautiful, gold lined silk fur at a thrift shop the other day. I've been trying to identify it, but I'm possibly more confused than I was when I found it! :) At this point I'm leaning toward the fur being dyed, but I am still curious which animal it was originally from and the approximate age.

The scarf is made up of many small pieces of fur, hand stitched stitched together. There's no tag or label. I'm thinking it may have originally been attached to a coat. It feels pretty supple still, with only certain edges being stiff.

Hi there, it’s ocelot and I think it may have once belonged to another garment and was repurposed so I’m unable to determine the true age.

It is beautiful however ocelot is legally prohibited from being sold without permitting so if you do plan on selling it please check with your local wildlife management authority to find out if they will allow you to.

Oh dear. I was really hoping it wasn't. Thank you very much for your advice though!
