    Hey new member here!

Found this forum by chance today as trying to date this vintage coat bought in a London op shop in mid 2000s

The brand is "Acuascutum" & they have apparently been around since the 1940s

It looks like it may once have had a belt, as there are belt loops

The label indicates it's waterproof or water resistant, which is an interesting feature.

Hoping some of you experts here may know what era this jacket may be & more info about this brand!

Have never actually worn the jacket myself

It's one of those pieces just enjoyed having in my collection

    Hi there, and welcome.

Your images aren't showing for me unless I click the links - and our forum users often don't like to do that.

I've edited your post so the first one shows. Perhaps you can do the rest - you need to copy the "Forums (BB code)" link from your free hosting page, rather than the 'image link'. You can paste the BBcode link directly into your post and your images will show here. Let me know if you need help.

Aquascutum is a well known British brand, you can read about them in our label resource: https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/aquascutum/

Your label looks identical to the 1960s one in our label resource, but I think this jacket is probably later, into the 70s, by the pointed collar and general shape (labels may be used for many years)

Aquascutum were originally known for their waterproof clothing - and they go back much further than the 1940s! Our LR says they were founded in the 1850s.

    Let's see what others say.

It's lovely - I would definitely wear that one!

Thanks for this info Retro Ruth ❤️
Sorry about the link, can't see where can edit this post
Will be sure to post pics properly next time!
Interesting to hear it may be 70s due to the pointed collar
Thinking might finally wear it this winter

ah you may not be able to edit your own post anymore - there's a time limit on doing this.

Feel free to reply adding your pictures to the bottom of the thread though.
