    This Vanity Fair gown has two ties, and they are sewn in a weird position. Here is the best I can manage:

    <img src=http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e270/fuzzylizzie/vanityfair002.jpg>
    And the back:

    Does that look correct??

    And while I'm at it, anyone want to guess the year? I found an ad for a matching piece, so unless VF recycled the design (like they did with that leopard print), I have it pin-pointed.

    Thanks!

  2. It looks correct to me, Lizzie. Looks like you can wrap it even more if you want and then tie off in a bow. And I guess 60s.

    Well, I won't venture on whether it's correct or not--but I can say with confidence that you've tied it very prettily!

    Love the colors and print on that...

    Well my short attention span caught up with me. Sorry to have posted and disappeared!

    Thanks Deborah and Carrie.

    The year is 1963. I would have thought a few years later.

    The ties should be pulled to the back first. You don't want the bodice to be showing gathers and fullness. Then I'd bring the ties to the front with the front wide rather than narrow. Then I'd tie a fabulous bow to one side. I know the fabric isn't taffeta and won't hold its shape in that way but scroll down to see this Galanos dress from 1962;
