My friend bought a storage unit full of mainly vintage clothes.. I'm new to this and am having trouble with knowing what is what. Can you guys tell me anything about these dresses? I numbered them to help with any responses.
Generally we prefer to look at one garment at a time, or just 3 or 4 in a similar style. My head starts spinning with 10 at once! Plus sometimes we need more than one photo. Nonetheless I'll try - and others may think differently of course. Most of these are 70s or thereabouts. 1 2 3 and 7 look 1970s to me - maybe 1 and 7 possibly late 60s? 4 I'd need to see more detail, but perhaps someone else can tell at a glance when this is from. 5 looks more modern - 90s? but I'm not sure. 6 looks late 70s or very early 80s - I remember that yoke style 8 - I'm wondering if it's repro, ie modern in a vintage style. If it's not it's rather fab, 70s and possibly shortened. Love that piping and collar and buttons 9 I'd need to see more detail, but possibly 70s too. 10 looks 60s to me As with your other dress, some of these look to my eye to have been shortened.
They all look 1970s to me, may be an exception in there. I do not think they have been shortened, but one would have to look at the hem to be sure.
back to these years there was a slightly different style, for example much lighter and colorful dresses - donkey jackets and a brazier and a placard. dunno where thread started find this but anyway interesting.
