Good morning all, I recently found a dress belonging to my great grandmother. This dress bears a "Henriette Beaujeu - Paris" label. I would like to know more about this French seamstress but I cannot find any information about this woman and her work... Would anyone on this forum know who she was and have information about her ? I would really like to know more about his work and if there are any videos, articles or books about her. A big thank you for your help.
Thank you for bringing your question here Joanne. If you need help posting photos, please let me know.
I did a quick search and found a number of references. I will try to post more later but for now here are a couple: Reference to the designer https://www.europeana.eu/en/item/2024913/photography_ProvidedCHO_Parisienne_de_Photographie_80429_25 A number of mentions in French newspapers like Paris-Midi from the 1940s. Here is one example. It sounds like she may have trained with Vionnet which is rather astonishing
She appears to have presented her collection alongside such big names as Patou and Lanvin according to this 1943 announcement which also shows you her address
Since I had an email conversation with her, I got to see the dress and the label. I will post these here for her.
Truly gorgeous. I would love it if we could get this label for the LR. I found an astounding amount of articles and mentions about her
Wow, that's a beautiful dress! I agree, that's someone that it would great to add to the label resource. I haven't heard of her before either!
