House coat (?) dating

Found this today at a thrift store. It's totally wrinkled but wasn't sure the best way to get the wrinkles out? I'm not sure what the material is though - I feel it maybe a rayon blend. Also, can anyone help me date it - and is it a house coat? There are slits in the sides which look like a belt or tie that should go through them although I'm unsure.

    Thanks!

Yes, that quilting effect on the top looks so 50's to me.

If you feel the robe is clean and doesn't need laundering, you might wet a large towel, wring it out thoroughly, and put into the dryer with the robe for maybe about 15 minutes. Sometimes that will steam out wrinkles. The length of time may vary-check often. Facings, cuffs, collars, and small details may still need to be ironed.

It does look a bit like 1950s. Hard to tell from a photo, but the fabric looks like a rayon acetate blend.

Thank you all so much :) Had a feeling it may have been 50s but needed the experts opinions :)
