    Hello,

I inherited a small black and red apple seed pouch/purse from my Grandmother, who inherited it from her Grandmother. (See Pics attached.) The story is that My Great-Great Grandmother received this purse sometime during the 1870's to early 1880's in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada.

Any apple seed beaded bag I look up online indicates that they were made in the 60's or 70's. I, however, I did find a Botanical jewelry site that said apple seed jewelry items can date back much earlier and could be a product of Native Americans.

Does anyone have any information on the history and age of these bags?

    Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks,

I will be watching this thread as I have a purse exactly like this one and was wondering about it.

    Hello,

The design smacks 1930s but such shapes remained into the 1970s.

I think you purse is 1930ish, I don't think any earlier.

The red pods brings to mind the Natal Mahogany Tree.

Jewelry is one thing, bags and purses another.

There's no clasp or closure, the top is just open.

That's interesting that yours is exactly the same as the purse I have. Same color and design too?
